HEO Training

In conjunction with PRESS and LeMare Lake logging and VANASEP the Quatsino First Nation is offering a 13 week training opportunity on Heavy Equipment Operator training.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS IS WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2011.

The training will begin on November 21, and will consist of :
HEO Foundation which is four weeks of theory-based instruction. A certificate will be issued to all successful applicants upon completion.

Classes will be held in our Hall from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday.

The HEO Foundation will be followed with a 9 week hands-on training in Heavy Machinery Operations at Quatsino’s Industrial Site (old minesite). Students will receive a certificate upon successful completion of this final phase of training.

IN ORDER TO RECEIVE RED SEAL STATUS, ALL SUCCESSFUL STUDENTS MUST THEN WORK ON THEIR OWN (with an employer of choice) TO GET 300 HOURS OF DIRECT WORK EXPERIENCE.

This training opportunity will be offered to Quatsino (six seats ) and Kwakuitl (six seats) members, as well as 3 off-reserve First Nations.

APPLICANTS MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF GRADE 10 (must have Grade 10 Math) AND A VALID DRIVER’S LICENSE IN ORDER TO REGISTER FOR THE TRAINING OPPORTUNITY.

All applicants will be required to have an assessment done, and once past that stage a screening process will take place.

All fifteen successful applicants will be receive a training allowance of $200.00 per week for the 13 week training opportunity.
