HOUSING OFFICER:
October 31, 2012

The Quatsino Council is seeking qualified applicants for the position as Housing Officer. The Housing Officer is responsible for the administration and finances of all Social Housing and Band Housing programs as outlined by the administration, AANDC and CMHC.
The position will start at 6 (six) hours per day 4 days (Monday to Thursday) a week, with a strong possibility of full-time employment. The Housing Officer will work under the supervision of the Band Manager.
Specific duties shall include, but not be limited to the following:
Administer the QFN Housing program in its entirety including budgeting, financial reporting, and program reporting
Administer and manage financial aspect of housing program including rental collection, inspections, maintenance requirements, eviction notices as required and tenant files
Negotiation and selection of contractors
Submit reports and recommendations to Council and the Housing Committee as required to achieve adequate and quality housing
Be knowledgeable about government-funded programs: CMHC, Band Housing, Individual Housing, AANDC housing programs (including new housing, renovations, RRAP, NORHA and the new Housing Marketing Fund)
Responsible for the application process for funding to CMHC and AANDC by preparing necessary documentation
Responsible for land status reports
Negotiation and selection of contractors
Liaise between homeowner and contractor
Arrange site and soil tests for proposed housing sites
Assist in land transactions
Prepare tender and contract documents
Plan and organize sub-trade list for repair and maintenance jobs
Liaise and arrange training sessions with CMHC and AANDC contacts
Organize and attend Housing committee meetings
Maintain an efficient and accurate filing system
