While employed under contract by the Kwakiutl First Nation; the person in this position
will be working on behalf of three First Nations (‘3 Nations’); the Kwakiutl, Quatsino and
Tlatlasikwala First Nations.
This opportunity is for a six (6) month contract position, with possible extension, with the
Kwakiutl, Quatsino and Tlatlasikwala First Nations.
The position will start immediately. This position will be responsible for coordinating a
multi-institutional training program for 3 Nations’ community members and facilitating
employment of community members in the construction of a large-scale wind farm.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide support to the 3 Nations, with a key focus placed on communication with the
administration and community members, supporting project-related community member
employment and/or training.
POSITION REquIREMENTS:
• Minimum 1-2 years related experience
• University/College/Technical education in human resources/education/training
• Previous employment in related field, preferably with First Nations
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
• Experience in employee training and development
• Project management skills, along with team-building, problem solving, interpersonal and
analytical skills
• Knowledgeable of construction-related training programs and apprenticeships Experience
and knowledge of WCB & work place health and safety
• Effective time-management, decision-making, problem-solving and organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently as well as a member of a team
• Experience with large and small construction sector training
PERSONAL ChARACTERISTICS:
• Demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, local First Nation values, traditions
• and beliefs
• Ability to use discretion in handling confidential information
• Innovative and creative communication style and methods would be an asset
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Flexibility/adaptability
• Willingness to work some evenings and/or weekends as required
• Valid BC Drivers License and own transportation
