What this means for the Quatsino Community:
We are currently running the checkpoint 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The checkpoint is not dependant on the phase we are in. We expect the checkpoint will be in place for the foreseeable future.
Permanent residents coming and going will be asked to stop at the checkpoint but will not be recorded in the log.
Non-permanent residents are not welcomed into the community at this point. Temporary visitor passes will be provided and logged for the following:

Tips to prevent COVID-19 and stop the spread of germs:
The Health Centre (Ixmagilas) is open Monday to Friday from 8am-4pm and closed for lunch from 12-1. Walk-ins are not permitted, please call to make an appointment.
Our Home and Community Care Vehicle is available to transport clients to local medical/dental appointments in Port Hardy or Port McNeill on Monday afternoons and Wednesday mornings. Please call the clinic to make arrangements.
There is no vehicle available for down island trips at this time.
Clients are required to have an appointment and only those with the appointment may enter the clinic. Please arrive no more than 5 mins before your appointment.
If you are only coming to the Health Center to pick up something (e.g. travel
documents) you will be met at the doorway and papers will be presented on the table beside the doorway to maintain physical distancing.
Staff will complete a verbal screening assessment over the phone/text prior when booking appointments to ensure you have no symptoms of COVID-19. A symptom check will also be done by phone/text just prior to appointment time (day of) to ensure no new symptoms developed since booking yourappointment.
Please call and cancel your appointment if you are feeling sick or have symptoms.
Do NOT bring anything from home with you. Ladies, if you MUST bring a purse do not put it on the table.

All users will have to answer screening questions and wear a mask if necessary. Only those with appointments will be allowed in the vehicle unless legally/medically required escort. The vehicle will be cleaned before and after each use by the driver. It is still recommended that if someone in your personal bubble can transport you that you use them if possible.
