What We Do

Our forests are a major part of our history and our traditional territory. The Quatsino First Nation is committed to conscientious stewardship of our forests with an emphasis on environmental sustainability, long-term economic viability, and cultural preservation.

Our Goals

The Quatsino First Nation Forestry Department has 3 main goals in our operations:

  • To take on responsible stewardship for the forests within our traditional territory.
  • To strengthen our active role within the forestry sector operating in our traditional territory.
  • To build the capacity for our community members to be directly involved with forestry management, planning, and environmental monitoring.

Our focus continues to be on preserving our cultural connection to the forests of our territory. We aim to work with industry in a collaborative partnership, creating meaningful training and career opportunities for our community.
