Wage: $19.00 per hour, based on a 30 to 45 hour work week.

• To collect and record fishery and stock assessment related data while monitoring marine or freshwater fisheries (recreational) at landing sites.
• To collect biological samples that are required for stock assessment and fishery management purposes.
• Secondary School Diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
• Experience identifying species caught in the recreational fishery such as Pacific salmon, rockfish, groundfish and shellfish.
• Experience working with the public and/or interacting with anglers.
• Knowledge of the recreational fishery.
Abilities and Skills:
• Ability to follow detailed instructions, collect and record data in a clear and concise manner.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to use and enter records in to computer systems.
Personal Suitability:
• Effective interpersonal relationships.
• Dependable.
• Good judgement.
• Organised.
• Safety conscious (1st Aid Training an asset).
Conditions of Work:
• Must possess a valid BC class 5 driver’s licence.
• Willingness to use personal reliable vehicle to travel to remote work sites; compensation will be paid at government rate (local commuting costs will not be compensated).
• Ability to handle inclement weather, and significant public interactions.
• Willingness to work weekends, shift work, and overtime.
• Ability to relocate to field locations when required by survey design.
