The Quatsino First Nation has been working in the shellfish farming industry for a few years now. We have recently started a long-term project involving a new species of mussel – the Golden MusselTM.

In partnership with Blue Frontier, we are currently developing a new model of business that involves setting up a Co-operative type business, strictly for First Nations to get into growing the Golden MusselTM. In the future, the First Nation’s involved will have complete control over the Golden MusselTM, its markets and how fast/big the business will grow.

Right now, we are starting from the bottom. We are looking for 3-5 members that are interested in developing their own business in growing Golden MusselsTM. You do not have to have any experience or education in farming but must have a willingness to learn and train to own your own business. This is a long term opportunity and is NOT actually a job at present. In the future, when additional funds are secured, it will be a full-time job for those involved and you must be prepared to work outdoors.

If you are interested in exploring this opportunity, please submit a cover letter and resume outlining your experiences and explaining why you would be interested in this opportunity.

Submit resumes Attn: Dave Schmidt; Golden MusselTM Co-op Opportunity, 305 Quattishe Road, Coal Harbour BC, V0N 1K0; Fax: (250) 949-6249; email:
